Over the past 30+ years, I’ve sprayed more gallons of paint than I could ever count—different products, different colors and just about every type of aircraft imaginable.

The materials and technology may change, but one thing hasn’t: I still love picking up that spray gun and watching a finish come to life.

After all these years, the passion is still there.

The Citation is officially transitioning from bodywork into the priming and painting phase. ✈️

We spot-primed the completed repairs, sanded every area smooth, washed and chemically treated the bare aluminum, and replaced all the old masking with fresh protection for primer and paint.

From stripped and covered in paint chips to clean, sanded aluminum in only two days. 💪🏾✈️

After cleaning the hangar floor and pressure-washing the Citation, the crew went to work preparing every inch of the aluminum.

We’re almost ready for the final cleaning, conversion coating, and epoxy primer.

The transformation is moving fast—but the process never gets rushed.

The Cessna 421 was stripped, cleaned, prepped, conversion coated, and primed with Sherwin-Williams Aerospace epoxy primer. After approximately two hours, we applied one complete cross coat of Sherwin-Williams 200 Series.

The paint is gone—but the stripping process isn’t finished until everything is properly cleaned and contained.

With the Citation and Beechjet fully stripped, we squeegee the remaining material from the aircraft and the hangar floor. All removed paint chips and residue are collected in 55-gallon drums to be properly shipped out and disposed of.

Then we pressure-clean both airplanes and thoroughly wash the hangar before moving into the next phase. Process over speed. The Flex Aero way. No Shortcuts.💪🏾✈️

Aircraft stripping is never one-size-fits-all. ✈️

The Beechjet released its old coating quickly, while the Citation required two additional applications of 3Chem Hybrid Strip. Every aircraft reacts differently depending on its coating history and what’s hiding underneath.

Final application today. Pressure wash tomorrow. Then we find out exactly what this Citation has been carrying under all those layers.

A three-day recoat window changes the workflow. 🎨✈️

After laying down the base coat with one complete cross coat, we returned the next morning and went directly into layout.

That allowed the crew to lay out and paint the stripes, emergency-exit borders, entry-door borders and landing gear all in the same day.
