Ok! Story time!
Today we were referred by one of our towing partners to a gentleman that was stuck on I-76 in Roggen, CO with a flat tire on his Can-Am Spyder. He called his roadside assistance through Can-Am and waited....
SIX hours later a tow truck, a wrecker finally arrived. Well you can't tow a Spyder on a wrecker, a roll-off truck is needed or a specialized motorcycle tower with equipment made specifically for motorcycles like us. That's when the rider called the Can-Am dealer in Thornton and after a few calls and referrals, we got the call to help. The time was now 2:30pm, not a lot of time to drive an hour east, get him loaded, and then back to the dealer before they closed at 5pm. We did call the dealer while en route, they did have the tires in stock but they advised us that they would not be able to change the tire due to our projected arrival time of 4:50pm, they close at 5.
We got to the dealer in time to grab tires. Then it was time to call around to find a shop since most close at 5pm SHARP on Saturday and don't reopen until Tuesday, the rider was traveling and heading back home to Chicago, sitting, stuck in Denver really wasn't an option for him.
We called all our contacts with no luck so we started calling tire shops, Les Swab, Firestone, Goodyear, Cycle Gear, even Costco to try to find a shop that would do the swap, all were already closed, booked solid, or just plain unwilling to help because it was a "motorcycle tire", or a "trike" tire, I'm talking to you Cycle Gear... 🤦🏻♂️
Finally the manager of Big O said he could help so we rushed over. The deal was they would change the tires out if we took the wheels off the bike. Since Tow Moto Co also handles basic roadside assistance for cars, we had the tools in the truck and got to work in the parking lot, blocking up the front end and pulling wheels. We didn't stop until we found a solution and the customer was super relieved that he wasn't stuck until Tuesday when the dealer reopened. Check out the pics of our adventure that started at 2:30pm and finally ended around 6:45pm.
