New on our blog: the cities we tend to rush past on our way to the bush.
A journey to Africa doesn't begin at the first game drive, it begins the moment the plane touches down.
At Cape Town's Mount Nelson, this idea takes physical form. South African designer Thebe Magugu, marking ten years of his celebrated fashion house, has crafted a two-story suite on the hotel's storied Palm Avenue, layered in indigo, emerald, and hand-sketched wallpaper tracing the South African landscape. Next door, Magugu House hosts a rotating gallery where artists Zanele Muholi and Zizipho Poswa exhibit work on craft, identity, and inheritance.
For us, this is where journey design begins: not at the airstrip, but in the city itself, where fashion, art, and hospitality set the tone for everything that follows.
Where does your Africa story begin?
