RTD’s Proposed September Service Changes are designed to further enhance and strengthen RTD’s transit network by refining service, improving reliability, and better aligning resources with customer needs.

As part of the September 2026 Service Change, RTD is advancing a coordinated set of transit service enhancements designed to strengthen reliability, restore key frequencies, and improve access to major destinations across the system. These proposed changes reflect observed utilization trends, operational performance, and lessons learned during recent reconstruction activities, while maintaining flexibility for future evaluation and adjustment.

The proposals support the System Optimization Plan and the final phases of the Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project and reflect community feedback and ridership trends.

Review the proposed changes and share your feedback through March 4 by attending a virtual public meeting, joining an Ask a Service Planner session, or completing the online survey.

A Message from Our Friends at Painted Prairie and Aurora Highlands:

Aurora Public Schools has emphasized that demonstrating a strong Kindergarten Year 1 Intent to Enroll is critical to the charter review process. At this time, 60 letters of support have been submitted – 28 of which were from Kindergarten Intent to Enroll families. DSST needs all intent-to-enroll letters to be closer to 80–90 to be in a stronger position for approval by the school district.

To allow families additional time to participate, the deadline has been extended to March 1.

This request is especially relevant for families with children who are currently 1.5 to 3 years old, as those students would likely enter Kindergarten in Fall 2029, when the school is tentatively projected to open (potentially sooner).
Submitting an Intent Form is simply a way to express interest — it is not a binding commitment. Families are not locked in, and plans can change. What matters now is demonstrating meaningful interest from families in our community.

In addition to Kindergarten intents, general letters of support from residents are also important in showing Aurora Public Schools that Painted Prairie values having a neighborhood elementary school option.

If you would like to support this effort, we encourage you to submit one or both of the following on or before March 1. Please include your name, phone number and number of children if applicable, including your words of support for the school at Painted Prairie.
