[We Cruise NCL] Reversing Falls at low tide, a glassblowing artist who works ashes of loved ones into crystal keepsakes, a brewery stop, and a tour guide who really, really loves talking about his deer photos. Our day in St. John had a little bit of everything.

[We Cruise NCL] If you're heading to Bar Harbor on an NCL cruise, put Asticou Terraces on your list before you do anything else. It's not actually part of Acadia National Park, but this garden -- created by landscape architect Joseph Henry Curtis and maintained by the Mount Desert Land and Garden Preserve -- turned out to be one of the most genuinely surprising stops of the whole trip.

I visited on a rainy morning and ended up with some of my favorite photos ever, playing with the light on wet leaves and branches. Sometimes the grey days are the good ones.

[We Cruise NCL] Rainy day in Bar Harbor? Turns out Acadia National Park has a pretty great answer for that. When rain hits that granite landscape, there's almost no topsoil to absorb it, so you get waterfalls instead. Not a bad trade.
