A family-owned dedicated logistics provider since 1932. Ruan was founded during a very challenging time. It was the Great Depression.

John Ruan’s father had passed away and someone needed to provide for the family. So, despite the risk, the 18-year-old sold his family’s car, bought a truck and began hauling gravel around Iowa. Ruan Transportation Management Systems was born. Today, since that first load of gravel was shoveled by hand, Ruan continues to research and develop innovations in technology, equipment and safety. And, we’re leading the industry effort to improve transportation’s environmental profile. Ruan endows the World Food Prize, the foremost international award recognizing excellence and progress in overcoming global food production and distribution challenges while inspiring new generations to embrace the cause.

Congratulations to Michael N. of our Salem, Virginia operation for earning second place in the Flatbed division at the Mid-Atlantic Professional Truck Drivers Association driving competition fundraiser benefiting Make-A-Wish. Michael and his wife, Amber, also took part in the event, which was held in Smithfield, North Carolina.
