🚧 Passenger Travel Advisory ✈️

If you're flying from Dodge City Regional Airport (DDC) over the next few weeks, please plan to arrive earlier than usual.

KDOT has begun a resurfacing project on U.S. 50 and U.S. 56/283 near the airport. During active construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane in sections with flaggers and a pilot car, and delays of up to 15 minutes are possible. The project is expected to continue through the end of August, weather permitting.

Please allow extra travel time to ensure you arrive before your airline's check-in and checked baggage deadlines. Airline cut-off times remain in effect, even if highway traffic is delayed.

Thank you for planning ahead, and we wish you safe travels!

Resurfacing to begin on U.S. 50, U.S. 56/283 in Ford County
The Kansas Department of Transportation will start a resurfacing project the week of July 26 along U.S. 56/283 from the east city limits of Dodge City to the U.S. 50/56/283 junction and from the junction to Fairway Drive along U.S. 50.

The highways will be reduced to one lane at time in smaller sections as work takes place on the 6-mile project area. Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes as flaggers and a pilot car direct one-lane traffic through the work zone. The lane reduction will be marked by signs and cones. Highways will be open to normal traffic when construction is not taking place.

APAC-Kansas Inc. Shears Division of Hutchinson is the contractor on this $1.6 million project. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete by the end of August.

For more information on this project, contact David Ubel, Construction Manager, at (620) 682-7938, or Yazmin Moreno, Public Information Officer, at (620) 765-7080.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas, go to kandrive.gov or call 511.

✈️ A Great Day at Dodge City Regional Airport! ❤️

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Arrowhead West to Dodge City Regional Airport for a behind-the-scenes tour of our airport and aviation operations!

The group toured our newly remodeled and expanded terminal, where they learned about the passenger experience and airport operations. They also visited the TSA checkpoint and had the opportunity to experience the passenger screening process.

Our guests then stopped by Crotts Aircraft Service, Inc., where they learned about general aviation and had the chance to see a variety of aircraft up close. They also toured an EagleMed Dodge City ambulance aircraft and learned how emergency medical flights provide lifesaving transportation throughout our region.

The visit concluded at our Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Station, where they got an up-close look at our specialized firefighting vehicle and learned how our team helps keep the airport safe and prepared for emergencies.

It was a wonderful day filled with learning, great questions, and lots of smiles! We enjoy sharing the exciting world of aviation with our community and appreciate the opportunity to host such an enthusiastic group.

A big thank you to Arrowhead West, Transportation Security Administration - TSA, Crotts Aircraft Service, Inc., EagleMed Dodge City, and our airport staff for helping make today's visit a memorable experience!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming the first graders from Linn Elementary to the airport! ✈️

During their visit, the students had the opportunity to learn from TSA, visit with Crotts Aircraft Service, Inc., and get an up-close look at our ARFF truck. It was a fun and exciting experience for everyone as they explored different parts of airport operations and aviation.

We love giving students a behind-the-scenes look at the airport and helping inspire future travelers, future pilots, and future firefighters. Experiences like these help spark curiosity and show young minds the many exciting opportunities in aviation and public safety.

Thank you to Linn Elementary for spending the day with us!
