After 100 km on the saddle weve gotten to Senay, which is on the river Maas between Verdun and Sedan, two sites of huge historical impact in the two world wars. Passed by the Battle of the Bulge forests and felt spooked by the dead and confused about the parallels between Hi**er, because of whom so many died, and Trump, who is also a fascist, and who is taking the same path to power, unchecked. How….?

Utrecht, after 8 days and about 660 km on our bicycles. Tomorrow we go to Amsterdam then take a day off to wash and walk and give our behinds time to lose the saddle imprint. (Gel saddles are no doubt better than hard sattles but ergonomic sofas they are not.)

Our Easter tour. Packed the saddle bags and started training our behinds for a big bicycle tour this summer. Leg 1 Tübingen to Sigmaringen, 73 km, with a big hill in between. This is the next morning shortly before hitting the saddle for leg 2 to mom‘s house in Meersburg. OUCH!

Our sailing season ended with an award from the Transocean-Verein - a German sailing community which includes Boris Hermann - for our sailing turn to Spitsbergen. The ceremony in Cuxhaven was so inspiring that we are even more impatient than usual for the next season to start. (We fly to our beloved Saphir April 29.)

Last morning at sea. No wind, smooth water, sun, waves from behind (after a real beast of a start around the southern tip of Norway). We are wintering her in a shed on the island Orust in Sweden where she was born. Happy to go home and sad that it’s over.
