Also, SKAL Chicago Member Michael Embrey will discuss the Illinois REAL-ID Driver’s license or ID card requirement for people (18) years or older to use for identification at airport TSA locations or for entry into secure government buildings.

SKAL Chicago Tourism Day at the Olde Ballpark.

Members of the SKAL Chicago and fellow northern Illinois tourism friends enjoyed a night at the 'Olde Ballpark'. On Tuesday, August 23 the Kane County Cougars welcomed the SKAL Chicago and Hospitality professionals an opportunity to view the Kane County Cougars Baseball team.

This early evening game (6:30 PM) featured the Kane County Cougars vs. Lincoln Saltdogs. The Saltdogs won 7 to 3. There was plenty to do at the ballpark including great food and beverage selections. Some of us tried a cheddar brat from the Reams food booth.

Former SKAL Chicago Presidents Graham Mosey and Cheryl Gatto, along with current SKAL Chicago VP Michael Embrey plus family members and other guests enjoyed the evening out. The weather was spectacular.

Before the game, fellow SKAL Chicago member, Michael Embrey, was part of the Military Color Guard from the DeKalb American Legion who presented the Colors during the National Anthem. Singing the Star Spangled Banner was former NIU Graduate Herb Alexander.

* SKAL Chicago Road Rally - Sunday, October 9th:

Fall drive to see local attractions and the sites of the country in Northern Illinois - a 'SKALcation'.

This fall road rally takes us 65 miles from Chicago and a chance to visit award wining farms and wineries. This is not a timed event, but a chance to enjoy the country and backroads of northern Illinois. This is an on your own cost event, but you will come away with some great memories and maybe some treasures for your home pantry. Additional details to follow. Open to SKAL members, tourism and hospitality professionals and friends.

10:00 AM: Meet at Jonamac Orchard - Malta, IL
12:30 PM: Lunch OYO Fatty's Pub - DeKalb, IL
02:15 PM: Local wines at Waterman Winery - Waterman, IL
03:30 PM: Sample craft spirits at Whiskey Acres - DeKalb, IL

Jonamac Orchard is a three generational family farm owned and operated by the McArtor Family since 1984. The apple orchard is part of the 105 acre farm in Northern Illinois, with over 20,000 apple trees. They are committed to providing quality farm products and a memorable fall experience for your family. They also have lots of pumpkins. Jonamac Orchard is in Malta, IL .

Fatty's Pub has been voted numerous times the Best Place to Watch Sporting Events, Best Patio/Beer Garden, Best Burger, Best Spicy Potato Salad and is regarded as one of the best places to eat in DeKalb. Fatty's is located1312 West Lincoln Highway, DeKalb, IL

Waterman Winery produces unique red, white, and fruit wines, grown, fermented and bottled on site. This is a great place to try some wine, but also learn about the vineyard. The wines produced there are made from local grown grapes. Waterman Winery is10 miles south of DeKalb, IL.

Whiskey Acres: Head out to the country and our stop is at Whiskey Acres Distilling Company in DeKalb, IL. It's a great place to have a cocktail and sample some bourbon, whiskey or rye. If don't like any of the brown liquors, they also have a delicious vodka. The tour is interesting and fun. Whiskey Acres is located in DeKalb, IL
