Earlier this week the Duluth Airport Authority broke ground for a new Air Traffic Control Tower at Duluth International Airport (DLH).
This new state-of-the-art tower will replace our current facility, which is the 3rd oldest operating air traffic control tower in the nation. This new tower will ensure DLH can continue supporting safe aviation operations for decades to come while positioning our region for the next generation of air commerce and aviation growth.
This project would not be possible without strong partnerships at the federal, state, and local levels.
We are incredibly grateful to our project partners — H+U Construction, our construction manager, and EXP and SEH - Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc., our design partners — along with the continued support from the Federal Aviation Administration and Minnesota Department of Transportation. Their partnership and investment in the future of aviation in Minnesota have been essential in bringing this project to life.
We also extend our sincere thanks to our congressional delegation, Senator Tina Smith, Senator Amy Klobuchar, and Congressman Pete Stauber, for their dedication to this project and leadership in securing critical federal funding.
In addition, we are deeply appreciative of our state legislators Grant Hauschild for MN State Senate, State Senator Jen McEwen, Natalie Zeleznikar for House, Representative Liish Kozlowski, Pete Johnson for MN House District 8A, and Representative Jon Koznickck for their hard work this legislative session and for securing additional state funding to help move this transformational project forward.
We are proud to break ground on a project that will serve this region for generations to come.
