Occasionally there can be vast beauty found in what may be considered undesirables. If we take the time to look past the surface and believe in the potential we sometimes end up with something like the boards pictured.
Ambrosia maple is named after the Ambrosia beetle that ultimately causes the death of the live tree. At the same time it results in the wood taking on and showing different stages of life as the wood is transformed, resulting in the vibrant characteristic colors below.
Perhaps my two personal favorite cutting blocks so far are temporarily headed to Rose's Meat Market and Sweet Shop before they quickly find forever homes.
