10/23/2024
I returned to the Twin Cities as a fully capable and independent minded person in the spring of 2024, with the full intention to assess, intervene and assist with the caring of two vulnerable adult family members. Both had been living independently, but were suddenly and simultaneously in need of serious oversight. I lived with my eldest sister for a few months as I attempted to assess her specific situation and needs, which was no easy feat. The HIPPA laws and other legal constraints that have been put in place in recent years have unfortunately put a stranglehold on well-meaning and concerned family members in their quest to get their loved ones the necessary medical care they need. For very different reasons, my son had also become incapable of caring for himself, and both lacked the insight as to how unsafe their living situations had become. Due to their medical conditions, patience, cooperation and staying focused was non-existent, and both became incredibly difficult to deal with. Trying to put a workable plan in place in order to help them was a continuous work in progress.
After all of the testing was finally done on my sister, and all of the hours spent trying to get the doctors to take me seriously concerning my son, and despite all the clear evidence I was WAY over my head with this impossible situation, I still could not bring myself to ask people for help; Not only because there was so much to be done, but I honestly didn't know when or how I would exactly need anyone's help, as much was dependent on timing of their diagnoses, and what they were. I was literally to the point I could no longer put the organizing & planning pieces of this drama together because it was being acted out in real time, and I rarely had much relief. I was too close to the situation, and too exhausted because I had been sleeping with one eye open for months; So much so that I was no longer able to articulate all of the details of everything that needed to be done, not to mention in what order..... You name it, if it could have gone wrong.... it did. Simply put, for the first time in my life, I felt paralyzed......even broken.
Fortunately, my daughter and son-in-law insisted that I trust them, and get out of my own way to let a professional do what he does. I was given the contact information for Kevin Krause, owner of Edina Pro Movers, LLC. They informed me that Kevin had done a tremendous job helping my son-in-law's parents with their move 5+ hours away. Not only did items have to be packed up, transported and stored for a few weeks, they also needed to pick the items up and move them again at another time to their new home. I was told they were reasonably priced, worked incredibly efficiently, and they managed to do all of this without breaking a single item. NOT ONE! So I called Kevin and spoke with him over the phone. We agreed he would stop by my sister's place that afternoon to assess what needed to be done.
It took no time at all for Kevin to realize how much needed to get done, and how much help I needed (the bags under my eyes were the first clue). When I told him I only had 10 more days to empty out and make decisions about all of the items my sister had in her two bedroom apartment, plus the (3) separate 1000 cubic foot storage pods full of furniture, household items (and yes, junk!)..... before returning to my own life in another state..... Kevin didn't even bat an eye! Instead, he calmly explained what his plan was, and went straight to work on orchestrating the entire process. We were done after working for 3.5 days, and that included a day off in between! If anyone would have ever tried to tell me prior to our first conversation that it was possible to get so much accomplished in that short of a time span, I would have laughed and told them they were crazy. Well, his crew was so kind, respectful and fun that I laughed so hard I cried tears of joy. Kevin Krause is not only a hard worker, he is a born leader and man of good character. He is also smart enough to specifically choose a crew of men who not only have integrity, but are incredibly respectful to the customer. Just as importantly, they clearly respect Kevin as well. Do yourself a favor when you are in need of some help with your next move..... Call Kevin Krause of Edina Pro Movers, LLC.... It'll be the best decision you've made in a very long time!
