AMHOF Trucking, Inc.

AMHOF Trucking, Inc. Amhof Trucking is dedicated to safe and reliable truck transportation, and service to our customers is our prime objective.

We have dedicated ourselves to always providing our customers with reliable service—every time. Amhof Trucking has its roots in Iowa agriculture. We began in 1975 as a one-truck operation, hauling grain from Eldridge, Iowa are farms to Mississippi River barge terminals. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, the company expanded into hauling agricultural equipment from the manufacturers in eastern I

owa and western Illinois to other Midwestern states. As this venture began to flourish, more tractors and trailers were added to keep up with the demand. In the mid 1980’s, the agricultural industry in the Midwest fell into an economic slump. As a result of this slowdown, Amhof began to diversify into hauling other types of freight which required different types of trailers and drivers of different expertise. This was the beginning of a new era for Amhof Trucking—the era of seeking out and providing the services for which local shippers were looking. Amhof began to gear up to haul the commodities that the local shippers were having trouble moving. Expansion began occurring in areas that other trucking companies were neglecting—the special commodities that require special attention, highly-trained drivers and specialized equipment. New and different types of equipment were developed and built to haul the unusual types of commodities that the shippers were producing. As a result, Amhof Trucking has experienced conservative and controlled growth to a current size of 85 tractors and more than 250 trailers of various types to accommodate the demand of our shippers. We have become known to many of our shippers with special needs as the only transportation company that is willing to meet their expectations. Amhof Trucking is indeed a special company that dedicates itself to providing the type of service that a shipper requires. No matter what special equipment is necessary to perform the task—over-width, over-length, overweight or overseas—Amhof is up for the challenge. Our focus on safe, reliable on-time service is legendary.

It has been a tough week here at Amhof. We have lost two of our icons. On August 22, 2026, long-time driver Bill Wailand passed away.

A young Bill Wailand started with Amhof at the age of 44 years old, but he was no rookie—he had already begun his driving career with over a million miles travelled. Bill ran all 48 states and Canada, but here at Amhof he was most famous for running the Northwest Corridor, logging over half a million miles hauling oversized freight. In total, Bill drove over 3 million miles at Amhof alone. When Bill retired in 2024, he had achieved 30 years of Safe Driving Awards.

Four years ago, we had him involved in a “mock trial” at one of our safety meetings. He was cross-examined by our attorney in an effort to prepare less experienced drivers on how to react in the event of an accident, and to prepare them for the type of questions they would be asked when they took the stand.

Our attorney battered him with questions, and Bill responded with the voice of experience. Sticking to his trademark phrase when answering each question, he would start with, “The reality is…” and give an answer that stuck straight to the facts of the accident scene.

Two days prior to Bill’s death, I was talking to our attorney about returning to Amhof to be a guest speaker at an upcoming safety meeting. He remembered Bill, asked how he was, and if he was still driving, he remarked “Bill was the essence of a good driver”.

Bill’s legacy will live on at Amhof, and the skills he shared with our drivers will live on as well.

To our extended Amhof family, Graveside services will be 2:30 PM on Thursday, September, 3, 2026 at Oakdale Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Davenport, IA.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our beloved matriarch, Bonnie Amhof, who left us on August 24, 2026.

I knew Bonnie for 35 years, working shoulder to shoulder with her before her retirement. I know firsthand her love for her drivers, office staff, diesel techs, and warehouse family—and we loved her right back.

Bonnie lived a life of dedicated service, whether she was giving her time to the City of Eldridge, the Park View Lutheran Church, or here at Amhof. She truly loved her family, friends, coworkers/employees, and drivers. We loved her deeply in return and will miss her deeply.

Bonnie was the consummate teacher, always learning, sharing her wisdom, and evolving with the times. Her strong faith carried us through many difficult times. I treasure the many wonderful memories of working for her and our business trips together. I think we all secretly felt like Bonnie was going to be with us forever, but sadly, we now know that is not the case.

To our extended Amhof family, funeral services will take place at Park View Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026. (Visitation will begin prior at 9:30 a.m.)

We are happy to announce that Evan Edens, one of our valued drivers and a proud Veteran, has won this week’s THANK-A-TRUCKER Drawing. Evan is a first-time winner in the THANK-A-TRUCKER and has won a $100 VISA Card and a $50 gift card to Texas Roadhouse.

Evan started working for Amhof in June of 2022 in our warehouse while attending Eastern Iowa Community College (EICC) to get his Class A CDL. After graduating from EICC and transitioning from his warehouse position, Evan became part of our local crew.

Evan is actively involved in loading trailers and securing loads from local shippers and bringing them to our terminal for the over-the-road drivers to deliver to all 48 states. He is skilled in all aspects of driving semi, including securement, hours of service, and on-time delivery. We are so proud of the work he does here at Amhof.
This full-time dad loves spending time with his kids and the outdoors! Congratulations on being this week’s THANK-A-TRUCKER Winner!!

As we enjoy this long Memorial Day weekend, our family at Amhof Trucking would like to take a moment to honor the fallen — the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines — who gave everything so we can live, work, and drive these great American roads in freedom. We also want to thank our drivers and the many truckers still out on the road keeping freight moving this holiday. Wishing everyone a safe holiday weekend with your family and friends.

Well, you can’t win if you don’t play — and we have another repeat winner in this week’s THANK-A-TRUCKER raffle! 🎉 Scott Janson is a 4-time winner in the THANK-A-TRUCKER drawing and a true road veteran. This time he’s taking home a BriteZone Grote LED Light and a Traverse travel gear backpack. As many of you may remember, Scott rejoined Amhof Trucking in April 2023 at the urging of longtime Amhof driver Jim Beaham. It’s always a great sign when our own drivers refer top talent— referrals like Scott make our company stronger! Scott is part of our flatbed division and primarily runs Midwest and regional lanes. He is skilled at load securement, stays on top of his hours-of-service rules, and consistently delivers on time. ✅

One thing we love highlighting is that since starting his trucking career in 2000, Scott has safely driven nearly 3 million miles — the equivalent of 120 times around the Earth! It’s a story worth repeating. 🚚 That kind of experience, safety record, and dedication is rare. Congratulations, Scott and THANK YOU for choosing Amhof Trucking.

Who says lightning never strikes the same place twice? ⚡We have ourselves a repeat winner in the THANK-A-TRUCKER drawing! Ryan Henze has once again won the gift of time — an EXTRA vacation day! If you’ve been following our drawings, you might remember Ryan taking home this same prize a few years ago. Since graduating from Eastern Iowa Community College (EICC) in 2019, Ryan started with Amhof on September 4th of that year and has been a valued member of our team ever since. He has now safely logged nearly a MILLION MILES and will be receiving his 6-Year SAFE DRIVER AWARD at our Spring Safety Meeting on April 25th. 🚛 This hardworking driver can do it all skillfully hauling van, flatbed and oversized freight. But as he’ll tell you, nothing beats spending quality time with his lovely wife Amy, family, and friends. Congratulations, Ryan! Enjoy that well-earned extra day off! THANK YOU for your hard work and loyalty!
