Elgin Independent School District Transportation Department provides the EISD Transportation page for the district and community. Its purpose remains rooted in providing information about the district, celebrating the achievements of our students and staff, and providing updates about issues and events that impact our campuses. EISD aims to remain transparent on social media, but comments and posts that violate the rules will be evaluated for removal from view. The EISD Transportation page administrators monitor all postings of comments and discussion items to ensure the privacy and rights of Elgin ISD students and staff are protected and respected. EISD Transportation page administrators reserve the right to hide from view all postings that violate the privacy of students and staff or conflict with the district’s guidelines regarding internet access and practices. However, a posting may be hidden from view if it:
• Breaks the law – to include copyright and fair use law – or encourages others to do so;
• Contains abusive or inappropriate language or statements, to include but not limited to racist, homophobic, sexist, obscene or sexually explicit remarks;
• Easily identifies students and/or staff in defamatory, abusive or generally negative terms;
• Does not show proper consideration for others’ privacy or respect;
• Is considered to likely offend or provoke others into arguments or hate speech;
• Deviates from the subject matter of the original post; or
• Advertises or promotes a product or service for personal gain. All discussion posts may be deleted after a 30-day period in order to maintain the most current information of the EISD Transportation page. Elgin ISD is not responsible for user-generated content and the opinions expressed in that content do not necessarily reflect those of EISD. Construction of a City sidewalk project will force a road closure off MLK Boulevard starting Monday, Sept. 21.

The Old McDade Road intersection with MLK Boulevard is expected to be shut to through traffic from Sept. 21 to approximately Oct. 2. Residents in the 400 block of Old McDade will be routed to MLK via East Brenham Street. https://www.elgintexas.gov/m/NewsFlash/home/detail/1833

The City of Elgin has hired a contractor to construct a new sidewalk on the eastern side of MLK Boulevard, as well as along Alamo and Nina streets, as part of the federal Safe Routes to School Program. The project, which began Aug. 31, is expected to be completed by March 2027.

In every state, it's illegal to pass a school bus while the stop-arm is extended and the red lights are flashing. 🚍🚫

🛑THE RED LIGHTS ARE NOT A SUGGESTION🛑

We have received several complaints about drivers passing stopped school buses while children are loading or unloading.

Texas law requires drivers approaching a school bus with flashing red lights and an extended stop sign to stop before reaching the bus—regardless of which direction they are traveling. You must remain stopped until the bus begins moving, the driver signals you to proceed, or the flashing red lights are turned off.

The only exception is when the roadway is divided by a physical barrier or intervening space. A center turn lane or painted median does not count—you still have to stop.

Passing a stopped school bus can result in a fine of up to $1,250, but the far greater cost could be seriously injuring or killing a child.

We understand everyone has somewhere to be. Those extra few seconds are not more important than a child’s life. Slow down, pay attention, put the phone away, and stop for the bus.

Our officers will be monitoring reported problem areas. Consider this the friendly reminder—the next one may come with a citation.
