Your CDL and medical certification have separate expiration dates. Keep track of both and start the renewal process early 👇
❕ Check your state’s requirements.
CDL renewal procedures, documents, fees, and testing requirements vary by state. Review your state licensing agency’s instructions before your appointment.
❕ Schedule your DOT physical.
If your driving category requires medical certification, book an exam with a medical examiner listed on the FMCSA National Registry.
❕ Verify your medical status.
Medical results are now transmitted electronically through the FMCSA system to state licensing agencies. Check that your updated certification appears on your driving record and follow your state’s instructions if it does not.

Driving in the Rain 🌧🚛
Wet roads and reduced visibility call for extra caution. Keep these reminders in mind before your next rainy-day run 👇
❕ Slow down.
Give yourself more time to react and more room to stop. Adjust your speed to the conditions.
❕ Turn off cruise control.
On wet, slippery roads, keep control of your speed and acceleration.
❕ Keep your movements smooth.
Accelerate gradually, brake gently, and avoid sudden steering changes that could cause a loss of traction.
❕ Turn your headlights on.
Help other drivers see your truck, even during the day.
❕ Leave extra space.
Increase your following distance. Wet pavement means you need more room to stop safely.
❕ Know your load.
Empty and lightly loaded trailers require extra care, especially when rain comes with strong winds.
If conditions become unsafe, pull into a truck stop or rest area, park safely, and wait for the weather to improve. Keep your dispatcher updated.
