Not every "Cancún beach" is the same — here's what actually matters:

1️⃣ Check sargassum conditions — 2026 has been one of the heaviest seaweed years on record, with peak season running roughly May–August (worst in June/July).

2️⃣ Not all beaches are equal — some stretches get hit hard while others just a mile away stay clear, thanks to reefs, barriers, and beach geography.

3️⃣ Wind affects water conditions — onshore wind can churn up cloudy water even on a "clear" beach day.

4️⃣ Season can change everything — Nov–March is historically your clearest window; if turquoise water is non-negotiable, timing matters as much as location.

5️⃣ Some areas offer calmer waters — spots protected by Isla Mujeres or barrier reefs tend to fare better during heavy sargassum stretches.

6️⃣ Check recent beach photos — conditions change week to week, so I always look at current reports (not old brochure photos) before recommending a resort.
