Did you guess that the mystery animal was a LONE STAR TICK? Nice! These bad boys, or should I say girls, get their name from the big white spot that the female LONE STAR TICKS have on their back. LONE STAR TICKS are also one of the few tick species that will actively chase their host instead of wait for one to walk by. They are also the carriers of the horrid red meat allergy disease. Protect yourself from tick bites this summer by wearing bug spray, avoiding where ticks like to hang out and doing tick checks after stomping in the grass. Your bacon addiction depends on it!
