The business began primarily as logging and cattle hauling business. In 1946, a division was added to move houses and commercial buildings. In the late 1960’s, Buchta Trucking began to diversify into the business of transporting coal. The company continued to diversify its operations and build a broad customer base by hauling different types of commodities. Buchta Trucking continued to grow and, i
n 1986, began transporting freight nationwide. A special division was added to provide heavy equipment tear down, set up and crane services, as well as heavy equipment and oversized load hauling. In 1992, the house moving division was sold, and in 2004 the heavy machinery division was sold. These changes were made to allow the company to concentrate its manpower and resources on hauling bulk commodities. Today, Buchta Trucking operates a fleet of 450 to 500 trucks. Buchta Trucking has been recognized by several organizations for its leadership and commitment to service and safety. The company has received several awards in recognition of its commitment to safety. These awards include three Liberty Mutual Group Gold Fleet Awards, several quarterly Holmes Safety Association Awards, and two Indiana Motor Truck Association Fleet Safety Awards.
