Sailing Until Valhalla

Sailing Until Valhalla We are a family of 5 that decided to sell everything to live and travel on our sailboat to spend more time enjoying life.

we sailed north to Alaska and bought property on a remote island and now starting to build an offgrid cabin while living on our boat

Well we've been off the radar for a minute but were coming back with lots to come!

So we haven't made much progress worth posting about in a while. We have been spending most of our time working/saving and kids doing school and waiting for nice weather.

But couple of big things that should help with progress coming up is first we finally got our little workboat seaworthy and in the water and in a permanent slip so we can get bigger stuff over to the property in not have to wait for nice weather

Secondly we've been having a hard time figuring out how to get equipment up here and to the property and with it being on a island with zero resources and still living on the boat space is limited. Being able to build parts on main island side then haul over would be a huge plus so with that we've been actively looking for a shop space but not many options until the other day we found a shop to lease and its ours so now we have a big work space and a boat to haul stuff across so we can make progress even in off season we will be back to hitting it hard moving forward

So with that for those who are still interested in what were doing we will be posting more pics here and uploading videos on YouTube shortly

We got a little break in the weather and took advantage of the sunny day and went out to the property to hangout and relax

First photo is one area we've been dropping some good sized trees which will be our view from our first small cabin we will knock out this spring to make it easier to spend more time out on the island to build bigger stuff like docks, workshop and main cabin

Also our little 22ft work boat is almost ready to splash and planning to have it in the water full time in March to make hauling bigger stuff over easier. As soon as weather starts getting better and days get longer we will be hitting it hard so for now we're all enjoying hibernating as much as we can but more then ready to get back to it when winter is over!

3:00pm in Alaska, days keep getting shorter here and not much progress has been made on our end.

So far clearing some troublesome trees and making plans for getting large tools up this spring. With weather/short days and the amount of money needing to be spent this summer. I (Tony) decided to go back to work so now we're both working, kids are in school and we're in hibernation mode squirelling money away so we can hit it hard in spring but big plans coming. With that we will post here and there when we do make progress but it won't be very often but were doing well and enjoying winter up here just being lazy!!! Haha

What have we been up to?

So we haven't posted a video/been filming as we left on vacation shortly after and we are getting the kids ready to start school and currently working on getting some tools/equipment bought for the property. So those curious what we've been up to well not much in terms of entertainment, but next week kids will be in school, steph will be working to fund our projects and I'll be unsupervised and making progress on the property. Season feels like it finally changing so the clock is on so our posting may be inconsistent at times but we will be back soon and hopefully making some progress

Old Volvo started for the first time!

Took a chance on this motor but after 2 yrs of sitting she fired up and ran great (minus annoying belt squeak) few more little odds and ends and a serious deep clean and she will be ready to get to work!

Well we bought another boat!

It may not look like much now but this is going to be the new work boat to haul material and ourselves across the channel to the property all year around once it's done should be the prefect little boat for what we need.

It's a 22' Olympic hardtop (fully enclosed)
with a Volvo turbodiesel swap making it perfect for the work coming up
