Today, I read an article titled "Coming Soon: Hamburgers Deliveries Done By Drone In The Burbs."

Within the same-day delivery business, there's constant chatter about technological improvements meant to get your shipments somewhere faster, cheaper, and better. But until we get our hands on a Star Trek-style transporter to beam up your deliveries, our attention is steadily focused on good 'ole reliability.

In the past, one of our clients mistook a Courierwest driver for an employee at their company because they arrived on site so consistently on a daily basis. We love that story because it shows how professional and reliable our wonderful drivers are. We only work with trained, full-time employees who build lasting relationships with our clients and who intimately understand and anticipate their business needs.

Last month alone, 33,349 metric tons of cargo passed through Port of Seattle's Sea-Tac Airport. To put that into perspective, The Statue of Liberty weighs 204 metric tons. That's a lot of cargo.

Needless to say, it can be tricky for time-crunched small business owners to quickly and efficiently ship out of the Puget Sound region amongst this mass of other stuff. Especially when dealing with new security rules, confusing flight schedules (since when does the 5PM flight arrive before the noon flight?!), and other regulations. Oh, and don't forget the airport traffic.

Courierwest is a proud member of the Transportation Security Administration's Indirect Air Carrier Program (TSA IAC) and is deeply experienced in Aircraft on Ground (AOG) and Next Flight Out (NFO) logistics. At first glance, same-day deliveries might seem simple.

Sometimes, it's a busy day, and it sounds easy enough to send a trusted employee out to do the job. But before you do, remember to ask yourself a few important questions.

Is your employee using their own car or a company vehicle?

Is that vehicle insured?

More importantly, is it adequately insured?

Does that employee have the proper training to handle the specimen you need delivered?

And are they HIPAA compliant?

If they're delivering to the airport, do they have TSA clearance?

And if your delivery needs to be sent during off-hours, do you have a secure space to store it?

Will someone reliable be available when it needs to be shipped on the next flight out?

Even if that's at 11 PM?

Okay, maybe it's not so simple.

But it's our job at Courierwest to remove that hassle.
