🚌💛 Do you remember your favorite school bus driver?

Maybe they greeted you by name every morning. Maybe they always waited when they saw you coming down the driveway. Maybe they played the best radio station, handed out treats on the last day of school, or somehow managed to make those early mornings a little more fun.

For a lot of us, our school bus driver was one of those people we saw every single day growing up.

🚌💡 FUN FACT FRIDAY!

Ever wonder why school bus seats are so tall and padded?

It’s not just for comfort! School buses use a safety design called “compartmentalization.” The closely spaced, high-backed, energy-absorbing seats create protective compartments for passengers — kind of like an egg carton protects eggs. 🥚🚌

Turns out those big gray seats are doing a lot more than you thought!

🚌 ’Twas the Day Before School Starts 🚌

’Twas the day before school, and all through the lot,
The buses were ready, each parked in its spot.
The routes had been practiced, the seats checked with care,
For soon sleepy students would all be right there.

The drivers were ready, their alarms set just right,
Knowing tomorrow would start way before light.
The fuel tanks were full and the mirrors aligned,
With one final thought: “Please be out there on time!” 😆

Backpacks were packed and new sneakers laid out,
While parents remembered what mornings are about.
The stop signs will swing and the red lights will flash,
As kids down the sidewalks come running full dash.

So here’s to our drivers, dependable and true,
Who know every road and just what to do.
Tomorrow we roll — a new school year’s begun…
Here’s to safe travels, big smiles, and some fun!

So wave to your driver as the big yellow bus
Brings another school year to each one of us. 💛

🍎🚌 FUN FACT FRIDAY — PENNSYLVANIA EDITION! 🚌🍎

Did you know there are approximately 31,000 school buses operating across Pennsylvania — and about 45,000 licensed school bus drivers? 😲

And getting behind the wheel takes a whole lot more than knowing how to drive a big yellow bus! Pennsylvania school bus drivers must complete specialized classroom and behind-the-wheel training, pass knowledge and road tests, and maintain special Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.

So when you see that big yellow bus rolling down the road, remember: there’s a specially trained professional behind the wheel carrying some pretty precious cargo. 💛

School buses are ready. Drivers are ready. Pennsylvania… it’s almost GO TIME! 🚌🍎📚

🚌 THE COUNTDOWN IS ON! 🚌

15 DAYS until DASD is back in session! 🎒🍎

Things are already starting to roll! Dry runs were happening this morning! Our drivers are getting familiar with their routes, checking stops, and making sure everything is ready to go when the real passengers climb aboard on August 25th. 💛

The buses are ready.
The drivers are getting ready.
The routes are getting practiced.

Now we just need the kids! 😄

📅 First Day: August 25th
⏰ 15 DAYS TO GO!

Before we know it, the yellow buses will be back on the roads and the wheels will officially be going ’round and ’round again! 🚌💨

🚌 Friday Fun Fact!

Did you know the iconic school bus yellow color has an official name? It's called National School Bus Glossy Yellow!

The color was chosen in 1939 because it's one of the easiest colors to see in the early morning, at dusk, and even in poor weather. It also stands out from most other vehicles on the road, helping keep students safer every day.
