NARRATIVE: On Tuesday, August 26 at 3:49 PM, a female was riding a bicycle on County Road 81 in Richland County. A 2008 Yaris was traveling northbound on County Road 81 and struck the rear of the bicycle. The rider of the bicycle was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Yaris had minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Friday evening a semi was traveling westbound on Highway 46 in Barnes County when it left the roadway and overturned, spilling its load of grain in the ditch.  Upon arrival of ambulance personnel, the driver ran from the scene through a cornfield.  The male was located by troopers and he was heavily intoxicated and refused sobriety testing.  He was arrested for DUI, DUI-Refusal, and charged with failure to give immediate notice and failure to maintain lane. 

Remember to drive sober and also drive defensively, you never know who is driving impaired next to you or a loved one at any time of day.

A question we’re getting right now: “Why is I-29 closed?” See Trooper Heisler’s view near Grand Forks. There are multiple crashes and some are completely blocking the interstate. Stay home and do not travel past closed road signs. If you do, emergency services may not be able to reach you.

FIRST ALERT: BLIZZARD WARNING now in effect for Towner, Cavalier, Pembina, Kittson Co. until 9 p.m. Several more counties around the Hwy 2 corridor have also now been upgraded to a High Wind Warning. Wind gusts could and have exceeded 60 mph in some locations. Travel is also not advised much of these areas.
