When Josh and his crew showed up for this pour, none of them had ever used a Lura Roller Screed before.

No practice runs. No training day.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄.

Fall puts a little more pressure on the schedule. There’s still plenty of concrete to pour and only so much good weather left to get it done.

We’re seeing that show up in calls to Lura for two main reasons.

𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿.

Josh and the crew at Werner Consolidated are a good example. They were looking for a way to get more concrete poured with the crew they already had, so they put a Lura Roller Screed to work.

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿. 𝗙𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗶𝘁.

Their first job with it was this 48-foot bin slab. Nobody on the crew had run a Lura before.

They spent about five minutes getting the feel for it and went to work.

65 yards later, the pour was down in about an hour.

That’s a pretty good first day with a new piece of equipment.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲.

That’s the other conversation we’re hearing from contractors.

Labor and overhead matter. Contractors are looking at how much work they can get through with the crews they already have.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. We look at it pretty simply: give your crew the equipment to be more productive, take some of the physical work out of screeding, and build an operation that can handle more concrete without continually adding overhead.
