Final week to share your input on the Regional Freight Plan!

Metro COG is seeking feedback from businesses and organizations involved in freight transportation, logistics, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and related industries as part of the Regional Freight Plan update.

🚛 Your input will help identify freight needs and challenges and guide future strategies to improve the movement of goods throughout the Fargo-Moorhead region.

The survey takes just 5–10 minutes and closes Friday, October 16.

Where is the Fargo-Moorhead region headed over the next 30 years?

Metro COG invites community leaders, regional partners, and key stakeholders to the Metro Growth Summit on September 22nd. The Summit will bring together perspectives from across the region to discuss the trends and forces that may shape future population, housing, employment, and economic growth.

Your input will help inform Metro COG’s 2055 Socioeconomic and Demographic Forecasts, which will support future transportation and regional planning efforts.

The Summit will be held at the Moorhead Public Library, 450 Center Avenue, Moorhead, MN, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, between 1:30-3:30 p.m. Your input is important.

Public Input Meeting for the Final Draft 2027-2030 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)!

The Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments (Metro COG) is inviting the public to attend an open house on Wednesday, September 2, to review and provide input on the Final Draft 2027-2030 Transportation Improvement Program.

The open house will be held from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Moorhead Public Library, 450 Center Avenue, Moorhead, MN 56560.

This public engagement process gives everyone a chance to help develop the Metro COG 2027-2030 TIP. The TIP lists transportation projects using federal funds in the FM Area over the next four (4) years. Projects include roads, bridges, trails, transit, and other safety enhancements.

A copy of the Final Draft Metro COG 2027-2030 TIP can be reviewed on Metro COG's webpage athttps://www.fmmetrocog.org/application/files/3217/8694/6447/Draft_2027-2030_TIP_v.1.pdf and will be continuously updated during the entirety of the public comment period. Physical copies of the Final Draft TIP are available at Metro COG's offices (1 2nd Street N, Suite 232, Fargo).

Today is National Back to School Prep Day 🎒📚 Parents, as you get ready for the new school year, there’s one more important conversation to have with your kids: e-bike and e-scooter safety, including what types of devices are legal and illegal and where they can and cannot be ridden.

We’ve seen a growing number of concerns this summer involving improper use, not following traffic laws and reckless behavior on e-bikes and e-scooters among our younger community members. These devices can be a fun and convenient way to get around, but they can also pose serious safety risks when used improperly.

Before your child rides to school, take a few minutes to talk about:
🚲 Following all traffic laws and posted signs
🛑 Stopping at intersections and yielding when required
🚶 Watching for pedestrians and other path users
⚠️ Riding responsibly and avoiding reckless behavior
🪖 Wearing appropriate safety gear
📍 Knowing where their specific e-bike or e-scooter can legally be operated

It’s also important to know that not all e-bikes and e-scooters are treated the same under current North Dakota law and Fargo ordinances. Where they can legally be operated can depend on how the device is designed and its maximum speed. Please review this graphic shared in this post for relevant information about which devices are legal and illegal within the City of Fargo.

Our priority is safety. We don’t want a student, pedestrian, driver or anyone else to get hurt because of a preventable mistake.

So as you prepare for the school year, have the conversation with your kids before they hit the road. Know the rules. Ride responsibly. Look out for one another.

Metro COG recently printed 6,000 new Fargo-Moorhead area bikeway maps! 🚲These maps are free to the public and can be picked up at:
- Downtown Fargo Public Library
- Moorhead Public Library
- West Fargo Rustad Center
- FM Visitors & Convention Bureau
- Metro COG's office - One 2nd St N, Fargo

Maps are also being distributed to local bike shops, government/civic buildings, and recreation facilities. Get yours today!
