Today we have a prime example why magneto manufacturers recommend a 500 hour inspection. During the aircrafts pre-inspection engine run there were no issues identified. Upon checking the magneto to engine timing it was discovered that one of the magnetos was off a degree in timing. Instead of adjusting the magneto it was determined the best course of action would be to remove the magneto and perform an inspection. That’s when this toothless wonder on was found.
