I don't really think this pilot learned anything from his excursion on to the shoulder of the runway, his defensive comments indicate he was trying to justify his mistakes. In my observation he applied too much left rudder causing the plane to skid momentarily on the left gear. He also attempted to steer the plane with the yoke and then tried to justify it by his comment on why he did what he did. Unfortunately his ego has overridden a opportunity to learn a valuable lesson. Take a look at the video and let me know what your assessment of his landing.
