Eagle Field Airport recently had the honor of welcoming a delegation from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for a tour of our historic facilities!

Our guests explored the hangar, runway, and ramp before stepping into our museum — where history truly comes alive. The delegation got an up-close look at our collection of historic warbirds, including our recently restored T-28 Trojan, a milestone our team is incredibly proud of.

It was a pleasure sharing Eagle Field's legacy and vision with the Caltrans team, and we look forward to continuing to build relationships that support aviation, preservation, and the future of our community.

Thank you to the Caltrans team for taking the time to visit.

The North American T-28B Trojan story at Eagle Field represents a remarkable example of aviation heritage brought back to life. Built in 1954 for U.S. Navy service, this T-28B’s journey spans decades of history, multiple owners, and ultimately preservation by dedicated aviation enthusiasts. Through restoration work—inspection of systems, structural repairs, and engine renewal—the aircraft has been revived and continues to honor its legacy as both a warbird and living piece of history.

If you love vintage aircraft and historic preservation, this one’s a must-read!
