📢 Airport Operations Update – Pavement Maintenance Project

MassDOT Aeronautics' pavement maintenance and pavement marking project is scheduled to take place at Fitchburg Municipal Airport on Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9. Work will include surface treatment on Taxiway A and several intersecting taxiways.

A NOTAM has been issued to accommodate the work and ensure safe operations during construction activities.

The project team is evaluating whether portions of the runway can safely reopen during the project and whether operational impacts can be reduced. If work progresses ahead of schedule or conditions allow for safe operations, the NOTAM will be amended accordingly.

Airport users should continue to plan based on the current NOTAM until any official amendments are issued.

We understand the short notice may have created challenges for airport tenants, businesses, and aircraft operators. Efforts are underway to improve notification procedures for future airport projects so stakeholders receive earlier and broader notice whenever possible.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as this important maintenance work is completed. Safety remains the priority while we work to minimize operational impacts whenever possible.
