While Hurricane Isaias is currently tracking to just brush our area with 0.75 to 1.25 inches of rain, the USACE Nashville District is actively managing our lakes to prepare for any sudden forecast changes.

The silver lining to this year’s historic drought? 🌧️

Our reservoirs, including Wolf Creek, Dale Hollow, and J. Percy Priest, have plenty of room to safely store any heavy runoff. We urge all marina operators and dock owners to stay weather-aware over the next 72 hours and secure their property just in case. The public should pay attention to flood warnings and flash food alerts from the National Weather Service. Most of all stay safe! ⚓

Harvest season is officially in full swing!! 🌽🌽

This is a small fraction of the trucks that have been unloading at the Port. This is also a powerful reminder of the hard work our farmers, drivers, and grain elevator teams put in around the clock to feed the world. To each of you, we say THANK YOU!!

The Florence-Lauderdale Port Authority extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of our longtime customer and friend, Jehu Hester.

For many years, Mr. Hester was a valued part of our port community, and their partnership and friendship meant a great deal to us. Their dedication, kindness, and lasting impact will not be forgotten.

During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with all who knew and loved them. May cherished memories bring comfort and peace in the days ahead.

We were honored to host students from the Allen Thornton Career Technology Center at the Florence-Lauderdale County Port on March 6, 2026.

Following a brief introduction, Port Director Gina Stowe Walker escorted the students onto a bus provided by the Alabama Council of Local Governments for a tour of the Port. During the visit, students were taken to each tenant location where Director Walker explained the role each company plays in the Port’s operations and regional economy.

A special thank you to Tennessee Southern Railroad and Woodall Grain for providing the students with a more in-depth look at their services and daily operations.

The students asked thoughtful questions throughout the tour, with some of the most common being: “Is it hard to get a job here?”, “How much does it pay?”, and “Are the positions full-time?” It was great to see such genuine interest in the opportunities available in the maritime and logistics industries.

We appreciate the opportunity to connect with these students and look forward to welcoming them back in the future!
