The beard is full Grizzly Adams now! And his fully vegan diet has trimmed him down but still 6’5.

A big OUCH for my friends and relatives who are Sales Agents, Realtors, and Brokers in the real estate world.

A major piece of breaking news today that the standard 6% commission is going away which may send those in the real estate sales business scrambling for a new sales model.

How will buyers and sellers react? How will those in the industry react? Will current contracts have to be or will they be rewritten?

A lot of questions but the National Association of Realtors agreed to do away with the 6% commission just hours ago.

The 6% commission, a standard in home purchase transactions, is no more.

The 823 Years Myth

If you have an email or a social media account, chances are that you have come across a viral post that claims an upcoming month has a rare combination of weekdays. Share it, the message states, or beware of some bad luck.

A recent version goes something like this:

December 2023 has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays, and 5 Sundays. This happens only once every 823 years. The Chinese call it “silver pockets full” or “money bags.”

The email is partially correct. December 2023 does have 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays, and 5 Sundays. But this is neither special nor unusual. You won’t need to wait for another 823 years for this weekday combination to occur. (In fact, it doesn’t even happen in the year 2846, which is 823 years after the year 2023!)

A calendar month that contains 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays, and 5 Sundays actually occurs nearly every year—March 2024, August 2025, and May 2026 all have the same weekday pattern.

Internationally acclaimed artist and sculptor Geoffrey Smith has returned to The Florida Business Forum to share his amazing stories about nature and art.

In Episode 2, Smith shares some of his favorite species to sculpt and tells a heart tugging story of a mother Right Whale and calf observed just off Hobe Sound on Florida's southeast coast.

Smith's amazing drone photography allowed whale experts to identify the Right Whale as Pilgrim. Her voyage to SE Florida with a calf has helped to add another member to this dwindling specie.

Hoping to help save the Right Whales, Smith's discovery resulted in a new sculpture featuring Pilgrim and calf.
