Temporary Construction Schedule in Effect on Worcester Line Beginning July 27

Rush hour service maintained while some off-peak trips are removed

The MBTA and Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the T’s operations and maintenance partner for Commuter Rail, announced today that a temporary construction schedule will be in effect on the Worcester Line beginning Monday, July 27.

The changes will allow crews to complete necessary track work, which will result in more reliable service moving forward.

Temporary schedule adjustments:
• Four off-peak inbound trains are temporarily removed from the schedule, with service operating roughly every two hours between 9am and 4pm.
• Four off-peak outbound trains are temporarily removed from the schedule between 7:30am and 1:00pm, with service operating roughly every two hours.
• Several midday trips in both directions have 5 minutes added to their scheduled run times.
• Inbound and outbound rush hour service is not affected.

Crews will replace 80,000 linear feet, or 15 miles, of rail between Framingham and Auburndale. This is the equivalent of 7.5 track miles when accounting for both tracks. The new rail will not need to be replaced again for 25+ years.

Changes will be in effect until September.
