Incredible climb up Mt Lincoln and Mt Lafayette along Franconia Ridge in NH on 7/17. 8.6 mile loop that we banged out in just over 5 hours with 3,800ft of gain. We did not realize how intense those winds can be up there above the treeline, so it was a bit chilly with just my tie-dye tee, but we moved quickly and, honestly, it was super invigorating! I left in the sound from the clips so you can get an idea of the power of those winds.

Another thing: this was one of the most crowded hikes I have ever been on. I didn’t mind it too much, but wild to see so many people trekking along that high ridge. We got there early to make sure we got a parking spot. Overall an amazing day, and an amazing hike! Can’t wait to get back to the Whites...

America’s Switzerland…? Why not! This view from the “Wigwam” coming into North Adams, MA is pretty spectacular, gets me every time. (And they have really good coffee!) It’s also right at the start of a great trail, Hoosac Range Trail, which leads to another spectacular view after about 1.5 hours. One of my faves…

🥵 Hot temps shouldn’t keep you inside! Hiking is actually a great activity to beat the heat. Just keep in mind a few simple hot weather hiking tips:
🧢 Wear a hat
🌲 Choose a shady trail
⛰️ Pick a flatter (and shorter) route
💧 Bring more water than you usually need

Get outside in the summer sun (and shade!), stay safe, and enjoy the trails wherever you are!

Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to invite you to join FOREST TALK TUESDAYS — a new monthly forest walk series hosted by me and my good friend Keith Kurman (Keith Kurman), local plant whiz 🌿

Our first walk is TOMORROW — Tuesday, May 26 at 5:00 PM!

Forest Talk Tuesdays is a leisurely group forest walk where we’ll pause along the trail to learn about the flowers, trees, ferns, and wild flora that make Berkshire forests so beautiful and unique.

I hike with Keith often and have even worked with him through his landscaping business (5th pic is from his containers at MassMOCA), so I can personally attest that he has a true gift for making plant knowledge approachable, fascinating, and fun. He’s incredibly articulate — a true plant savant!

Every month on the fourth Tuesday at 5:00 PM from spring through fall, we’ll gather for an easygoing 1–1.5 hour walk at a different location in the Mount Greylock region of the northern Berkshires — North Adams, Williamstown, and Adams.

These are relaxed woodland walks (never strenuous!), designed for curiosity, conversation, and connection with the landscape.
