We had a live podcast session at the 2026 Frederick Festival of Flight!

The City of Frederick's Behind the Spires podcast hosted two very accomplished local pilots, the airport manager of FDK, and a flight paramedic from Trooper 3 of the Maryland State Police. They talked about different careers in aviation, aviation organizations they're involved with, and had some fun questions out of left field.

Although technically not airshows, there are two local events I plan to attend this coming Saturday.

First will be the Frederick Municipal Airport, MD Festival of Flight. I have had my eye on this event for a few years, but it's always been the same day as Leesburg. This year it isn't, and this time I will be there.

Afterwards I will come back down to the northern Shenandoah Valley to Wi******er Regional Airport - OKV's Wings & Wheels event. Wi******er has been busy with a big taxiway reconstruction project, and I'm happy to see them put on an event this year.

If you're in the area, come on out!

🚨 ATTENTION, VISITING PILOTS 🚨

Please be aware that our city owned transient aircraft parking area will be unavailable for public use between Friday, October 2nd and Sunday, October 4th. During that time, our public use parking spots will be being used for aircraft parking for the Festival of Flight.

If you're planning on flying into Frederick Municipal Airport on these dates to attend the 2026 Frederick Festival of Flight, to eat a meal at the Airways Inn of Frederick, or if your trip has you heading further into The City of Frederick, it is highly recommended that you reach out to Signature Flight Support FDK - Frederick Municipal Airport as soon as possible in order to secure a transient parking spot on their line.

Our two current operations vehicles are now both marked with our new marking scheme. We went with a V-22 Osprey leading the stripe this time around and think that it turned out great. Now that our operations vehicles are marked, what aircraft do you think we should put on our facilities maintenance vehicles?

⏳ Maximum stay of 6 consecutive nights per visit.

📋 Spots are first-come, first-served.
