CottonPatch Aerodrome TA77 was a 10 acre private (restricted ®) Airport with a grass runway, 2 airplane hangars, 4 outbuildings & 3 residences. Each home had individual water wells/well houses & 1 storage building each. It was 1st conceived as a Pilot community by a local Homebuilder in the mid-‘70s, & all 3 of the original residents were GA/General Aviation Pilots. Said Homebuilder paid Denton Co
unty Co-op to bury the power lines at the S end of the runway, next to OldWitt Road, in the interest of flight safety. 2 of the homes were community built, & 1 family’s Grandfather later moved into the RV they had lived in during construction. The entire 10+ acre tract was sold together to a Real Estate Investor in late 2013; (3 acres were still owned by our former neighbor who’d moved to the Austin area in mid-‘88). Early rumor was that a total of 120 new homes were 1st planned to be built onsite; didn't go over well with local Oldtimers, btw. Horton, the property was then developed as Enclave at Creekwood subdivision; construction began in 2017. Now, 52 new houses have been built, where only 3 once stood—on an active runway! CottonPatch Lane was an 1800' private caliche road which was entirely self-maintained, along with 3 driveways on property & 1 more across the street. It was named in mid-‘87, & a custom street sign was erected in late June ‘88; (said sign was removed in Spring 2014 by the prior Owner). Within a very few years, the street appeared in Mapsco—a D/FW-based company that published spiral bound city atlases for major metropolitan areas in Texas, on Mapquest—an *extremely* popular online map website…then was adopted by The City of Frisco shortly thereafter. The name of our former private caliche road remains CottonPatch Lane, which now serves as the paved main thoroughfare through the development. Pima Drive: CottonPatch Rentals' rent trailer, a 1981 Kaufman and Broad Wayside model mobile home, was razed sometime in late 2017, after it was sold to D.R. Pima was then built on that 1 acre property as a short cross street betwixt Lake Trails Mobile Home Estates & CottonPatch Lane, along with 2 additional new houses, hence the odd total number of homes.
