Adventures in Printing, Episode 31: The Blueprint Blues! A number of decades ago, perhaps even many decades ago, our customer designed a sailing ship, pencil on paper, full schematics and details. He goes on to become a professional draftsman and artist.
Fast forward to last week, when he brings those original boat drawings in and tells me he wants them turned into an old style blueprint, with white lettering on dark blue background. It's the first time I've been asked for blue blueprints since we've opened. Nobody really does them any longer, you see, so finding blueprint paper that's actually dark blue was, not surprisingly, very expensive.
It was then I shifted gears and thought, "What if we actually recolored the original design to the colors that he wants for the new project and printed them in white on blue ink?" To do that, I needed the help of someone who knows their way around a CAD program.
A good friend of Beach Beagle Print & Ship, Juan Ferreira of Viridian Architecture agreed to take a look at the scans I made of the original drawings. Juan was intrigued by the project and turned around the reverse design the same day I sent it to him.
The plan worked better than I had expected - sharp white lines on a dark blue background. The result: a very happy customer. What can Beach Beagle Print and Ship help you create today? (Big thanks to Juan and Viridian Architecture for making this happy ending possible!)
