Sec. 34.013. BUS SEAT BELT POLICY. A school district shall require a student riding a bus operated by or contracted for operation by the district to wear a seat belt if the bus is equipped with seat belts for all passengers on the bus. A school district may implement a disciplinary policy to enforce the use of seat belts by students.

Parents,

All students are REQUIRED to wear their seatbelt while riding on a Gladewater ISD school bus. Many of our buses are already equipped, which means your student(s) should be wearing them! Once our new buses arrive, ALL route buses will be equipped with seatbelts.

Starting Monday, August 10th, students will be issued bus referrals for failing to comply with this directive. Any student issued 2 bus referrals for failing to comply will be removed from the bus for the remainder of the semester. There will be NO exceptions or leniency to this rule. Please refer to the Bus Rider Handbook that you acknowledged reading when registering your child on the Google Form and/or ParentSquare with any questions, or contact the Transportation Office.

Please review the proper procedure of buckling and unbuckling a seatbelt with your student over the weekend. Drivers will not assist students with buckling their seatbelts at the campus or bus stops.

We appreciate your help in making sure each student is safe on their way to and from school!

Thank you, Gladewater, for your support of the Gladewater ISD bond. These new routing tablets are one example of how your investment is already helping us modernize transportation operations, improve route efficiency and strengthen student safety.

It's hot out there! We encourage your kiddos to bring their water bottles with them to help manage the heat on their ride home!

Remember:
*Water bottles must securely close. No open cups are allowed.
*Students much hold their hold bottles or keep them in their backpack. The become a hazard to other students and the driver if they start rolling on their floor.
*Only water is allowed in the water bottle. Drivers reserve the right to refuse the bottle if any other type of liquid is inside.

☀️ GOOD MORNING GLADEWATER! ☀️

Some of you might have seen our buses out this morning driving the streets or doing an obstacle course. A lot of these drivers have been enjoying their summer at home, driving back and forth in their personal car. It is a strong belief of our department that drivers need as much time behind the wheel of the bus to get reacclimated before loading up the most precious cargo, YOUR babies! Today, tomorrow, and Friday, drivers will undergo several different trainings to ensure your students are in the most capable hands. You will see us driving in your neighborhoods tomorrow. Please resist the urge of having them stop and asking them questions. We need their focus to be on locating each stop, monitoring their times, and focusing on the road!
