A Little More About the Family Behind Brazos Carriage Company!
If you've been following us for a while, you've probably seen our horses traveling all over Texas, attending weddings, funerals, parades, princess parties, and just about everything in between.
But what you might not know is just how small the team behind all of this really is!
Brazos Carriage Company isn't just a family-owned business. We're also a proudly woman-owned and operated business! 🩷
And outside of our busy Christmas season? Our entire operation consists of just three people, including our owner!
That's three people caring for our horses, maintaining equipment, preparing carriages, traveling to events, answering inquiries, handling reservations, and keeping everything running behind the scenes.
Of course, we have some wonderful people who step in to help during our busiest seasons, and we're incredibly grateful for them. But throughout most of the year, it's just our little crew doing what we love!
And believe it or not, this whole adventure started with a young woman simply trying to pay her way through college.
Our owner, Tracy Pratt, originally began working for another carriage company to help cover her college expenses. What started as a job eventually grew into a passion, and that passion became a dream of building something of her own.
That dream took its first real step forward with one horse named Pudge, purchased for the price of meat.
One horse who could have had a very different ending became the beginning of everything Brazos Carriage Company is today.
Over 20 years later, that little dream has grown into a business that has traveled across Texas and beyond, helped countless families celebrate some of life's most important moments, and, most importantly, given numerous horses a second chance at life. 🐴🩷
The majority of our herd consists of rescue horses, many of whom came from kill pens or other difficult situations. Some needed rehabilitation, some needed patience, and others simply needed someone willing to give them another opportunity.
And that's always been at the heart of what we do.
We're not a large corporation with dozens of employees or an endless supply of resources. We're a small, hardworking family business that has built what we have one horse, one carriage, and one event at a time.
There are long days, late nights, early mornings, muddy boots, plenty of horse hair, and more than a few unexpected challenges along the way. 😂
But there are also beautiful weddings, heartfelt goodbyes, excited children meeting a draft horse for the first time, and families who return year after year to make new memories with us.
And somewhere in the middle of all that hard work, we get to look around at the horses we've helped and remember why we started.
Because at the end of the day, this business was built around the horses, and they're still the reason we keep going. 🩷

Every bit of support helps keep this little woman-owned, family-run dream alive and allows us to continue doing what we love.
