I write this in honor of my Dad, who landed on Omaha Beach, on this, the second day of the Normandy invasion during WWII. Thank you Dad and all the comrades who fought through hell and left us with a better world.

Come enjoy some delicious blueberry pancakes at the annual Cook County Grand Marais Airport Fly-in/Drive-in Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, September 28th! 🥞

The Annual Grand Marais/Cook County Airport Fly-in/Drive-In pancake breakfast will be Saturday, September 28th at the Grand Marais airport. Note the date was moved back one week to coincide with more fall colors, and to hopefully bring in more pilots from around the region. The annual event is sponsored by the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization, a local 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization that seeks to support the local airport and provide aviation scholarships to local citizens. Join the Eagles for breakfast with blueberry pancakes and sausage links, and enjoy watching airplanes come and go, and see vintage airplanes on display. There will be discount airplane rides, weather permitting, and lots of fall colors to view from the air!

The event venue is the Sawtooth Aviation hangar at 123 Airport Road, Grand Marais - The Grand Marais/Cook County Airport. Saturday, September 28th, from 8:00AM to 11:00AM. Cost is $10 for adults, $6 for kids under 16.

Progress on the 190 project. The first and second picture show the installation of a new pilots side window and felt seals. The 3rd picture is the installation of the felt seal to the refinished interior window trim trim frame. The final picture shows the completed installation. The window trim frame also serves to retain the completed side panel. The interior in this aircraft is not just nice looking new materials. The cloths are accurate reproductions of the original cloth and leather.

Well beyond time for some project updates. In a previous post we show us building a jig onto an undamaged airframe. The 4 following pictures show why. The first picture is the severely damaged landing gear box that was removed. The second photo is the open hole in the belly of the airframe. The third picture is of the airframe in it’s setting in the jig. The final photo is of the new gear box being prepared for installation. Once installed into the jig, the remaining floor and belly damage can be replaced as well. Long way to go yet. This Cessna 206 will be an interesting build!
