Congrats to the Hastings/BIRCH Fire Department on another successful Community Pancake Breakfast held at the fire station in downtown Hastings. Chief Jordan, and his wife Julie, were great hosts and the entire fire crew did a great job serving everyone. Thanks to our Life EMS crew of Paramedic Joy DeLong and EMT Noah Strimback who gave tours through one of our paramedic ambulances with the latest in lifesaving gear to those attending. We were proud to be a small part of the great weekend of activities in downtown Hastings as part of Summerfest 2026.

Next Monday, August 24 from 4pm-8:30pm Life EMS of Kalamazoo will be hosting a blood drive. The supply of blood is critically low right now in Michigan, particularly type "O". This morning Life EMS, University of Michigan Health-West, and local Athletic Trainers came together for our annual Emergency Preparedness & Sports event. This event helps prepare these health care professionals for sports emergencies by reviewing best practices and participating in simulation exercises covering a variety of emergency scenarios, including heat-related illness, cervical spine injuries and other on-field medical emergencies, strengthening teamwork for the best possible care.
