So it has been a bit of a rough go at Redfish Marine this fall. For the longest time I didn’t want to post about this because there were so many more that lost everything. I guess this post is more for me to keep telling myself we can do it and press on. We consider ourselves blessed and lucky to still be operation. We have nearly finished the rebuild on our engine shop and hope to start rebuilding the marina in the spring.

We welcome the newest addition to the company fleet. It’s an Envirocat 4.3 electric catamaran. You have most likely never even heard of or seen one of these and never will. It’s a very special little boat and we are elated to bring it back to life. More to come in the coming months. It’s honestly an engineering marvel that belongs in a museum, a floating museum that you can ride on that is! 🤓👍

What’s better than a lighted boat parade at Christmas? A lighted boat parade with a new Simrad halo 24 installed! Simrad’s newest halo radars are something to be seen. The second photo shows a lake we went through, all of the dots are boats. We could count every boat in the lake. On the way home we were even able to see our wake at speed behind the boat, plus every crab pot buoy, channel marker, fish jumping and even debris floating in the water. If you have been on the dance about getting radar or updating your radar treat yourself to something special this Christmas with Halo 24 by Simrad!

So we get a call recently and customer says “our stereo stopped working…”

Tested stereo, dead
Replaced stereo, working but speakers made no sound
Checked all wiring on boat (not easy)
Find that all speaker wires have been severed and severely corroded.
All we can figure is that they were pinched in the hull at time of manufacture and corroded over the year of ownership.

Now to replace the speaker wires, not going to be easy.

There are times when an even seemingly simple task like a software update takes 5 hours!

With complex navionics systems if even one data cable fails it can corrupt the entire system and hamper software updates. It took 5 hours total to find the offending cable, replace it, update the software on all items on network and put boat back together.

Tell you what though, Invincible sure makes a nice boat! 👍😎

Here is another must have for you tools kit. Corrosion X is a great product that displaces water, lubricates and helps to stop corrosion.

Customer complained of intermittent radar. Found contacts severely corroded. We cleaned all the contacts and voila, their Simrad radar is back in business!

Corrosion is electronics worst enemy on boats. Even when you think “doesn’t look too bad…” it is! This customers boat’s bilge pumps wouldn’t work because of these grounds. Replaced the bus bar with Blueseas (my favorite.) problem solved and pumps are functional again.
