This generator came in with significant corrosion caused by leaks, and it's a perfect example of why small leaks shouldn't be ignored.

🛠️ Yearly Service Matters — Especially When Your Boat Has Work to Do.

We were back at it with the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, helping keep one of their research vessels ready for another year on the water.

UMCES takes their yearly service seriously, and that kind of preventative maintenance makes a difference. These boats aren't sitting at the dock—they're out doing important work, collecting data, supporting research, and spending plenty of time in the elements.

Our team handled the vessel's annual service, along with some warranty work to make sure everything was addressed and ready for the season ahead.

Routine service isn't always the most exciting part of owning a boat, but it's one of the most important. Catching issues early, staying on top of maintenance, and taking care of warranty items can mean the difference between planned downtime and an unexpected problem when you're miles from the dock.

Sometimes it's not the major components that cause the biggest problems—it's a simple O-ring.

This aftercooler came into the shop with a leaking O-ring that had been allowing seawater to slowly escape. Over time, that small leak led to significant corrosion of the aftercooler housing.

It's a perfect example of how a minor issue can snowball into a major repair if left unchecked.

Routine inspections and scheduled aftercooler services aren't just about cleaning the core—they're about catching worn seals, deteriorated O-rings, and other small failures before they become expensive ones.

A $10 seal can end up costing thousands if it's ignored.

📸 Every technician has their favorite part of the job...

There's something satisfying about seeing an engine buttoned up after a thorough service. It's more than just a clean photo—it's a visual reminder that every filter was changed, every fluid checked, and every detail looked over before the boat heads back out on the water.
