Incident at Greeley-Weld County Airport
On Friday, August 8th, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., an individual trespassed onto the main aircraft parking ramp at Greeley-Weld County Airport and approached a medical helicopter during an active hot refueling operation. Airport staff and a member of the helicopter’s crew immediately intervened and escorted the individual away from the immediate vicinity of the aircraft.
During the encounter, the individual made threats toward the helicopter’s aircrew. Greeley Police Department officers responded promptly, taking the individual into custody. Officers conducted a bomb threat search of the individual’s vehicle, during which a bomb detection dog alerted to a potential hazard. The bomb squad was called to investigate; no hazardous materials or devices were found. The individual and the vehicle were subsequently removed from airport property.
The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other federal authorities have been notified.
The Greeley-Weld County Airport extends its appreciation to the Greeley Police Department and the vigilant actions of airport tenants amd staff for their quick response, which helped prevent any further disruption or escalation of the situation.
