Medical waste is more than sharps.

Sharps are one part of the picture—but healthcare facilities generate many different types of regulated and specialty waste that require the right handling, containers, transportation, and disposal solutions.

From sharps and biohazardous waste to pharmaceutical, pathological, and other specialty medical waste, LRI can help your facility build a waste management program around what you actually generate.

The goal? Safe, compliant, and practical waste management from collection to final disposal.

Sharing Knowledge & Supporting Healthcare Compliance 🏥♻️

Recently, LRI’s John Grindal, VP of Compliance, and Peter Schmidt, Field Services Director, had the opportunity to present an online Lunch & Learn to the Wisconsin Healthcare Engineering Association - WHEA membership.

The presentation focused on healthcare waste categorization and preparing healthcare facilities for waste management audits—important topics that help facilities stay compliant, manage waste properly, and be prepared for regulatory reviews.

LRI is proud to partner with several WHEA member facilities, providing waste disposal, waste management, and compliance support to help healthcare organizations navigate their waste management needs with confidence.

Thank you to WHEA for the opportunity to share our expertise and connect with healthcare professionals across Wisconsin!

The Wisconsin Healthcare Engineering Association’s Educational and Professional Development Committee (EPDC) will once again be offering 12 webinars for the 2026 calendar year for a one time, low price per computer connection.*

The rise of GLP-1 medications is changing more than healthcare—it’s changing the waste stream.

As more people self-administer injectable medications outside traditional healthcare settings, the question of safe sharps disposal becomes increasingly important.

At LRI, we’re proud to offer SafeSharps as a solution that helps businesses provide a safe, convenient way to manage sharps and keep them out of the trash.

More injections. More places. More need for responsible sharps disposal.

In the aftermath of this week's storms, our team has been working in the Menasha area to help support cleanup efforts by delivering roll-off dumpsters where they're needed most.

Over the past two days, we've delivered 12 dumpsters to assist with debris removal.

Being there for the communities we serve and call home is important to us. We're thankful for the opportunity to help keep cleanup moving safely and efficiently, and our thoughts remain with everyone affected by the storms.

Recent headlines reported that more than 300 instances of infectious waste were identified in the municipal waste stream at a single Minnesota waste facility over the past three years.

It's an important reminder that sharps and other regulated medical waste don't belong in the trash. Improper disposal can put custodial staff, waste handlers, and the public at risk while creating potential regulatory and environmental concerns.

Whether you're managing a healthcare facility, office building, retail location, convenience store, or other commercial property, having the right disposal solution matters.

SAFESHARPS® from Logistics Recycling Inc. provides a simple, compliant way to collect and dispose of used sharps—helping protect employees, reduce risk, and keep hazardous waste out of the municipal waste stream.

Protect your people. Protect your facility. Dispose of sharps the right way.
