If there's one theme that keeps coming up in conversations about freight risk, it's visibility.

My colleague Rodney Cromwell, Vice President - Commercial, Enterprise Sales, spends a lot of time talking with shippers and brokers about the risks that chameleon carriers bring.

I recently read his article where he describes a chameleon carrier as one that shuts down after safety violations, compliance issues or fraud concerns, then reopens under a new name. On paper, they look brand-new and reliable. In reality, they may be the same operation with the same risks.

Thinking about your next move on the road? Consistency can make a difference.

Intermodal driving is one path I recommend drivers consider when they want a mix of road and rail freight. At Schneider, that network has been running for 35 years, moving freight through established lanes and rail partnerships. Freight moves by both truck and train, with routes built around ramp locations and scheduled loads, and options that can include local, regional and some cross-border runs.

Brake Safety Week is here, and it's a reminder that safety starts long before an inspection.

As CVSA's Brake Safety Week takes place across North America, roadside inspections will focus on identifying brake violations and defects, with special attention on brake drums and rotors.

While I may not be behind the wheel or under the hood, I see firsthand the dedication it takes to keep our equipment road-ready. To me, Brake Safety Week is a chance to recognize the drivers and technicians who make safety a priority every day. Their attention to detail helps ensure our trucks are ready for the road and our communities are safer because of it.

It's also a reminder that safety is a shared responsibility. Whether it's performing a thorough inspection, reporting a concern or making a repair, every action plays a role in keeping our operations moving safely. I'm proud to be part of a team committed to doing things the right way. Thank you to the drivers and technicians who help keep safety at the center of everything we do.

I’ve noticed capacity can seem steady—until the market shifts and trucks get harder to find.

The way I look at this truckload setup is pretty simple—it’s built around a dedicated fleet that’s already out there moving 12,400 tractors and 52,000 trackable trailers.

Instead of piecing capacity together load by load, it’s all part of one connected network that’s already in motion. From what I’ve seen, this helps support a more reliable day-to-day flow for freight
