Greenwood-Leflore’s inf

rastructure includes a 60-acre concrete ramp, three active runways, a new 8-story control tower, a fire-crash station and a broad range of instrument approaches, including a High TACAN and ILS. The principal runway, 18-36, is designed to support aircraft weighing up to 560,000 lbs. and measures 6,503’ X 150’. A pair of 82nd Airborne UH-60s found safe haven this Mothers Day afternoon at GWO. After departing Fort Polk earlier they encountered lines of heavy thunderstorms, some with hail,
along their route of flight. After refueling, nine weary aviators headed to the local Hampton Inn hoping for better weather tomorrow. GWO offers a big salute to our nations men and women in uniform and to Bill Henderson and Cottonbelt Aviation for handling the fueling and movement of personnel to their hotel. Thanks to Rob Hammons for the photo and transporting two pilots as well.

Thanks to KGWO tower chief Cecil Womble for this clip of Saturday's arrival of a Royal Jordanian Airlines Airbus A319. The Royal Jordanian livery looks spectacular on this bright and sunny day. She's only about 6,700 miles from home.
