As a Fleet Orientation Instructor, Stephen Peters supports drivers on and off the road, providing the knowledge, training and guidance they need to operate safely and confidently.

Since joining Forward in September 2018, Stephen has been leaving a positive impact on drivers, helping them grow and build a better future. "Supporting drivers means helping people succeed both professionally and personally. It means sharing knowledge, building confidence, promoting safety, and being someone’s advocate drivers can rely on when they’re facing challenges while changing companies."

Stephen's role as a Fleet Orientation Instructor means he works closely with drivers during our two-day orientation program, becoming a source of support during the driver's first days at Forward. "I serve as a resource for questions, encourage professional growth, and help drivers develop the skills necessary to succeed in their careers while keeping themselves and the public safe."

A truck's blind spots are significantly larger than a typical passenger vehicle, making it more difficult for truck drivers to see and react to surrounding traffic.

Distance makes a difference.

While cutting in front of a semi-truck may feel harmless, it can be much riskier than it seems. A semi-truck can take around 525 feet to come to a complete stop from 65 mph, and every foot can be the difference between a safe stop and an accidental collision.

As we move into Operation Safe Driver Week, we'll be sharing more on how we can all work together to make the roads a safer place for truck drivers.
