Biloxi Boston Whaler Club | Float Plan B: Inland River & Bayou Run
If open water conditions keep us off the outer barrier islands, we run the protected waters inland. The official meet and greet is this Saturday—we will still meet at Deer Island at 10:00 AM (show up early to hang out and enjoy the beach).
The weather is looking nice the whole weekend, so plan on spending the entire weekend out here to check some of these places out on your own. Bart will be on the water both Saturday and Sunday—if conditions keep the club off the island Saturday, you know that is exactly where he will be heading on Sunday!
After the meet and greet, we will fire up the motors, cruise through the Mississippi Sound, and enter Biloxi Bay to start putting on the nautical miles.
The Route & Destinations
Yul’s Place (Popp’s Ferry Bridge): Running from the Deer Island sandbar through the channel under the Popp's Ferry Bridge to Yul’s Place is about 7.5 to 8 nautical miles. It makes a great initial regroup stop.
Bayou Bernard & Gulfport Lake: Continuing west past Gulfport Lake into Bayou Bernard brings us into a prime stretch of boat-friendly spots:
Captain Al’s: A legendary waterfront staple with ample dock space, beach tie-ups, great food, and a warm welcome for the Biloxi Boston Whaler Club.
The Bluff: Located right across the canal with expansive, clean dock space.
The Magnolia Room: A cool new speakeasy-style spot nearby with great docks, pool access, and outdoor seating. Bart is tracking down the password so the club can check it out.
Trailer Option: For anyone who wants to skip the run by water, the public boat ramps in Mississippi are easy to pop in and out, not crowded, and mostly new and improved. You can launch right nearby at Bayou Bernard.
Biloxi River Loop: Heading up the Biloxi River gives us access to Pier 15 with its sandy beach and wide docks, plus Orangutang’s Daiquiris right around the bend.
Trailer Option: There is also a great boat ramp located right next to Pier 15 and Orangutang's for anyone choosing to trailer their boat directly upriver.
Tchoutacabouffa River Run: For boats wanting to stretch their legs, wind up the Tchoutacabouffa River to The River Peach Bar & Grill for live music, food, and plenty of dock space.
Fuel & Ice Logistics
On the return to Back Bay, you can top off fuel and grab ice at the working shrimp boat harbor or the Back Bay marinas along the Biloxi waterway.
We won’t hit every single stop in one afternoon, but having these spots tagged lets you enter the waypoints into your GPS and check out each other’s boats dockside like a true on-the-water car show. Save these coordinates for the meetup or your next weekend run in Biloxi.
