Guthrie Edmond Aviation Association A community for pilots and aviation enthusiasts at KGOK

A community for the local and transient pilots of Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport and anyone who holds an interest in aviation!

If you’ve flown out of GOK, you may have noticed a "dip" in the runway approximately 600 feet north of the Runway 34 pavement end, near what was previously Taxiway A2.

While construction was underway to realign the taxiway, the Airport received funding to repair this section of runway. Addressing this issue as part of the current project is not only cost-effective, but also helps avoid future runway closures for similar repairs.

This photo captures progress during active construction. Additional work is ongoing, and we appreciate the pilot community’s continued patience and support.

We're excited to share our new airport logo following approval by the Airport Board.

This refreshed branding reflects the continued growth of the Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport and its role as an economic asset for the region. As the airport continues to expand and increase amenities, the new logo provides a consistent look that better represents the airport today and where it’s headed.

We’ve also launched a redesigned website to improve access to information for pilots, tenants, visitors, and the public.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport to Temporarily Close Runway for Infrastructure Improvements

Guthrie, OK – The Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport (KGOK) will temporarily close its single runway (Runway 16/34), beginning Thursday, January 15th, 2026, as part of the airport’s ongoing Parallel Taxiway Reconstruction Project.

The runway closure is expected to last approximately six (6) weeks, weather permitting. During this period, all fixed-wing flight operations will be relatively suspended. Pilots are encouraged to make alternate arrangements during this period. Helicopter operations may continue in limited areas as coordinated with Airport Management.

This closure is required to safely complete construction work within the Runway Safety Area (RSA), a federally protected zone surrounding the runway designed to enhance operational safety.

The Parallel Taxiway project, which began on August 11, 2025, remains on schedule for completion by Spring 2026. The multi-phase project will realign approximately 3,750 feet of non-standard taxiway, bringing the airfield into full compliance with current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) design standards and improving long-term operational efficiency.

The total project cost is $5.7 million, with 90% funded by the FAA, 5% by the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) and the remaining 5% jointly funded by the Cities of Guthrie and Edmond.

“This project has been in planning for more than a decade.” said Airport Director Caden Young. “Once completed, it will improve efficiency and position the airport for future growth.”

Pilots are advised to check FAA Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) for real-time updates on airfield closures, reopenings, and operational advisories.

Home to over 130 based aircraft and numerous aviation businesses, the Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport contributes $19.2 million annually to the local economy.
