Roadwork at Lacon Will Close Part of US 31 Starting May 4

Roadway improvements will close the two-lane stretch of US 31 from the Cullman County line to Lacon Road beginning Monday, May 4. Crews will be widening the road, repairing concrete slabs, and adding an asphalt overlay.

Northbound drivers will detour to I-65 at Exit 318 and southbound traffic will detour at Exit 322 in Falkville. Higdon Road will also close at its US 31 intersection and will remain open only to local traffic on the Old Highway 31 side.

Drivers should expect lane shifts and single lane closures in the divided highway areas around the work zone. Delays are likely so plan extra travel time.
