High property taxes pushed the owner of this empty house to get rid of it. A local property investor had an empty lot nearby. Instead of demolishing the house, the investor hired us to move it to the new location for continued use.

This shop was used for grounds maintenance on a private hunting/recreational property. The owner wanted it to be relocated a short distance away on the same property.
We placed beams through the windows and attached it to the posts where steel was removed on the exterior, which made for minimal impact on the building when lifting and moving. This allowed a quicker turnaround for the customer.

A major flash flood, achieving never-before-seen water levels, swept this river house off its foundations. While a large tree anchored one corner, the other end of the house moved 12' downstream, resting precariously on some of the original posts. The quick-thinking owner placed stacks of blocks at intervals beneath it as soon as waters receded, helping prevent further damage. We were contacted immediately to support and lift it back to the correct location. Unfortunately, due to delays with designing new foundations and finding contractors to install them, work did not begin until several months later, leading to more structural damage.
We secured and lifted it, rotating both portions of the house back to their original location, then elevated 6' more to clear the high water mark by over a foot. There is more carpentry work to be done, but it's now on firm footings for the future.

It's been a full year!
Our historical move this winter was the Locust Creek Covered Bridge.
The bridge was built in 1868 from white pine and was a link in one of the nation's first transcontinental roads. At 151 feet, the bridge is the longest of Missouri's four surviving covered bridges.
Due to the self-supporting structure of the bridge, we were able to use minimal equipment to lift and support it. This kept the gross weight low for crossing two creeks and several bridges along the route.
Weather in the depths of winter also added some challenges, but ultimately was a huge help. The portion of the move through the wettest areas was scheduled after an extreme cold snap, and the frozen ground provided a very solid base through a typically soft area.
It was moved south of U.S. Highway 36, five miles from its original location and preserved now for generations to come.

This house was built above historic flood level to replace a building damaged by past flooding.
Local zoning and code enforcement required it to be higher still, and rather than having it torn down, the owner was able to contract us to lift it 6 feet higher.
Our crew stayed on location along Lake Taneycomo, where Driftwater Resort does an excellent job at hospitality.

This 26' × 54' house was lifted for an 8ft basement.
Owners wanted better acessability and more living space. The house was also rotated, so it was sitting true north and south while they were at it.
Future plans for them are to build on an addition and put new siding on.
They had a house moved before and were familiar with the possibilities.

There's no satisfaction like seeing a customer's vision accomplished.
Our project earlier this year, was lifting and moving the house back on the property and on to a new foundation.
Here's how it's looking today!

It's not every day we get to work so close to home!
Another successful move in the books. A family is building new on their land and didn't need the previous home anymore. Now it gets a second life 9 miles down the road.
